Hey there! My name is Mack and I am the creator of Blue Basil. I am an art and entrepreneurship student at Western Washington University. I have a passion for painting and honestly anything art related:). I first developed Blue Basil for a class on personal innovation where we had to create a solution to a bigger problem in our world. I immediately turned to sustainability and the clothing industry. I was overwhelmed with statistics and images of where our clothing ends up and how fast it is produced. After talking with people in the community I heard that they not only shared this frustration, but also the frustration of corporations hiking up the prices on second hand clothing. With these increased prices also came lack of originality in these stores. To tackle this issue, I decided to combine small batch screen print with thrifted and donated pieces. I have found so much love in getting to take care of these pieces and give them another life. Getting to connect with my local and art community through this venture is something I am beyond grateful to experience, and I can't wait to keep creating.
